Topic: Micro-Metrology at Polimi
Prof. Giovanni Moroni, Politecnico di Milano
The talk will present the research activities dedicated to micro-metrology of the Manufacturing and Production Systems research group at Mechanical Engineering Department of Politecnico di Milano (Polimi). Traceability in micro-metrology requires an infrastructure of accredited metrology institutes, effective performance verification procedures, and task specific uncertainty estimation. In particular, the talk will focus on performance verification and task specific uncertainty estimation for a four-axis measuring systems for full 3D acquisition of micro-geometric parts. This type of measurement has significant applications, e.g. in micro-tool, micro-mold, or micro-device manufacturing.
Giovanni Moroni is Full Professor in Manufacturing Technology and Systems at Politecnico di Milano, Mechanical Engineering Department, where he coordinates the Manufacturing and Production Systems research line and is member of the Scientific Committee. He is Associate Member of CIRP (The International Academy for Production Engineering), and member of AITeM (Italian Association for Manufacturing). Recently, he has been National High-end Foreign Experts at School of Mechanical Engineering, Tongji University, Shanghai, China. His main activities are related to geometrical product specification and verification, knowledge-based process planning, and digital manufacturing. On these topics, he is author of 168 publications and one patent.
